1974 - 2002
The complex restructuring of the casting shop in 1974 was followed by the subsequent investment in automation.

The completion of the "Eisenhütte Ortrand reconstruction" in 1977 was followed by renewal of the dedusting plants in the foundry, and the fettling shop. At the same time the whole site was integrated in the district heating system, converter station and adapted to the network.

In 1980-81 Eisenhütte Ortrand supplied carburising ovens, oven castings and chimney dampers to the Federal Republic of Germany and to Denmark.

The 300 000th ton of stove casting since 1945 was cast on June 3, 1981.

To substitute solid imported fuels, the "coke, gas, cupola" project was started onSeptember15, and completed by 31.10.1984
230 riggers, mechanics and labourers from 21 companies were engaged on the project. Helicopters helped dismantle the old melting furnaces and install the new ones.

Eisenhütte Ortrand (EHO) started its centenary celebrations in 1987 with a festive event, followed by a special reception.
The EHO water supply reconstruction" project was given special pride of place.

The "moulding shop reconstruction" project took place and was completed between September 01, and October 31, 1988. IT contributed to the further automation of the moulding plant by further use of computer controls.

On November 9, 1989 the Iron Curtain disappears with the fall of the Berlin Wall.

1989 / 1990
Eisenhütte Ortrand with 500 employees was one of the monopolists of the planned economy, the largest company in the Ortrand region and extensively modernised shortly before the political about face in 1989/90.

FromFebruary 10, 1990 on, Eisenhütte Ortrand, flew a white and green flag instead of the GDR emblem. Only black red and gold waved from the Company's own railway station crane.

The former BSG "Stahl" Ortrand became the sports club "Eintracht Ortrand" on May 2, 1990.

The GDR ceased to exist after joining the FRG Constitution. Eisenhütte Ortrand GmbH now hoped for wider horizon as the only manufacturer of tiled stove air heating in the new federal states.

On April 1, 1992, two investors from South Germany, Alfred Rosai and Ulrich Brunner, bought Eisenhütte Ortrand traditional foundry from the Treuhand Agency dealing with the privatisation of formerly GDR State owned property. After two years of difficult negotiations, the former GDR market leader foundry was now to become a powerful subsidiary for German and European partner companies.

Building work to modernise the now Ortrander Eisenhütte GmbH had already begun in 1993.

Important restructuring took place in 1994 and 1995 which were only fully completed after the millennium.

The Prime Minister of the state of Brandenburg visited Ortrander Eisenhütte GmbH on the 4th ofNovember 1995. The commissioning of the new warehouse on July 17, 1998 also heralded extensive construction work to modernise and expand the foundry.

August 19, 1999 was the start signal for the further expansion of the Ortrander Eisenhütte to an even more competitive production facility for the future.

By 2001 33,000,000 EURO had been invested in the site and by 2002 the production and turnover was almost doubled.
